Oishii, the vertical farming company behind the world’s largest indoor Smart Farm, is more than doubling its points of distribution, expanding to more than 500 U.S. retail locations in 25 states by the end of 2026.

The fourth-quarter rollout marks the Jersey City, New Jersey-based strawberry grower’s first launches with Walmart, The Fresh Market and Giant Food, alongside an expanded partnership with Sprouts Farmers Market.

The expanded network includes:

  • 78 Walmart stores in New Jersey and Pennsylvania;
  • 84 The Fresh Market stores in the Southeast, including first-time entry into North Carolina, South Carolina, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama;
  • 30 Giant Food stores in Maryland and Virginia; and
  • 34 additional Sprouts stores in Florida and Georgia. The Sprouts relationship has grown from 20 to 65 locations since an initial Northeast launch.

Nikko Berry in the lead

The Premium Grade Nikko Berry drives most of the new availability. Earlier this year, Oishii reorganized its Omakase, Koyo and Nikko berries into Premium, Reserve and Connoisseur grade tiers; the Nikko’s 7.5-ounce package carries a suggested retail price of $7.99 and features new Stay-Fresh top-seal packaging that uses 80 percent less plastic than traditional clamshells and extends shelf life by 33 percent, allowing Oishii to ship farther.

Supplying the new doors starts at the farm: since the beginning of 2026, the company says it has increased Nikko Berry production by 282 percent, improved sellable yield per plant by 100 percent and increased robotic-harvested berries by 50 percent.

“We’re excited to continue finding new ways to bring our strawberries to more people, especially as consumers look for greater consistency in flavor, ripeness and freshness,” said Rita Hudetz, Oishii’s chief commercial officer. “With our Nikko Berry, we are better able to meet those needs while making the Oishii experience part of more consumers’ everyday shopping habits.”

Founded in 2016, Oishii grows pesticide-free, Non-GMO Project Verified strawberries year-round in indoor smart farms in the U.S., with investors including Sparx Asset Management, NTT and Yaskawa.
