The Shelby Report works to be accurate in everything we publish. When we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and openly.
How to report an error
Email [email protected] with the story headline or link, what is incorrect and, if possible, a source for the correct information. You can also reach us through our Contact Us page. An editor reviews every request, usually within [1 to 2] business days.
How we correct
- Factual errors (names, titles, figures, dates, locations or company details) are corrected in the online story as soon as they are confirmed.
- Significant corrections are noted at the end of the story with the date and a short description of what changed, for example: “Correction, Sept. 27, 2026: An earlier version of this story misstated the store’s opening date.”
- Minor fixes such as spelling or formatting are made without a note when they do not change the meaning of the story.
- When an error appears in a print edition, we correct the online version and, when warranted, publish a correction in a following issue of that regional edition.
- We do not remove published news stories because a subject would prefer they not appear. Removal is considered only in rare cases, such as legal requirements or safety concerns, and is decided by Editor-in-Chief.
Updates
When a developing story changes, we update it and note what was added. An update is not the same as a correction and is labeled separately.
