Giant Food opened the doors on its remodeled store at 7709 Hartford Road in Parkville, Maryland, on Aug. 7 at 9 a.m., pairing the ceremony with an $85,000 donation to the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.
The donation, raised through a round-up program at all of Giant’s 162 stores, funds the grocer’s Clean Water Partnership and will support sustainability practices on local Maola dairy farms in the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
The remodel added amenities that have been part of other recent remodels: an expanded seafood department, a broader international foods selection, a Ledo Pizza Corner Shop, a full-service sushi bar with an in-store chef and additional prepared foods.
“Being part of the Giant family is a very special experience because you are not only connected to more than 20,000 associates, but our customers become family,” said Donna Perkins, store manager of Giant Food No. 2305. “Our store truly becomes a home for everyone who steps through our doors in Parkville.”
Customers sampled Giant private brand products and items from Boar’s Head and Celsius, and will receive a free reusable bag at checkout.
Store reinvestment
Parkville continues a heavy remodel schedule this year. Giant reopened a Columbia, Maryland, store July 31 and has held recent ceremonies in Baltimore, Oakton and Vienna, Virginia, and Germantown, Maryland, the latter two on the same day in May.
