Associated Supermarket Group celebrated the grand opening of The Market of Point Pleasant Beach on July 24, returning a full-service supermarket to a longtime neighborhood grocery location on the New Jersey shore.

Located at 505 Richmond Ave., the store is owned and operated by Shap Markets and is the company’s fifth independent supermarket. At more than 18,000 square feet, it carries fresh produce, meats, seafood, dairy, frozen foods, pantry staples, prepared foods and everyday essentials.

The grand opening weekend featured a ribbon-cutting, product sampling, vendor demonstrations, giveaways and family activities through ASG’s “Good Neighbor” program. ASG leadership was joined by Shap Markets, C&S Wholesale Grocers, Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Doug Vitale and local business and civic leaders.

Speakers highlighted the store’s role in serving year-round residents as well as the seasonal visitors who travel to the Jersey Shore and Ocean County. The location is expected to draw shoppers from Point Pleasant, Brielle, Bay Head, Manasquan, Brick, Toms River and surrounding communities.
