WinCo Foods has announced that Nathan Tucker, currently chief merchandising officer, will become the employee-owned grocer’s next president on Jan. 1, 2027, and CEO on May 1, 2027.

Tucker succeeds Grant Haag, who is retiring after 42 years with WinCo and will remain CEO to support the transition through May 1. The company said in the Oct. 30 press release that the phased transition provides leadership continuity as WinCo serves customers and communities in 10 states through 147 stores.

Tucker joined WinCo in 2013 as an assistant store manager and has since served in store, district, division and executive leadership roles, bringing what the company called a broad understanding of its stores, employee owners and customers to the role.

Boise, Idaho-based WinCo is majority employee-owned through an employee stock ownership plan and operates its discount, no-membership format around the clock at most locations.
