WinCo Foods planned to open its 147th store at 9 a.m. local time on Oct. 26 at 2370 S. Myra Road in Walla Walla, Washington, the employee-owned discount grocer announced. The store operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The opening follows WinCo’s signature low-cost model: register transactions are limited to cash, checks, debit, WIC and EBT, customers bag their own groceries at checkout and no membership is required to shop.

For opening day, WinCo planned giveaways of branded items from suppliers Amy’s Kitchen, Kerrygold and Nissin, available while supplies last, one per family.

The store’s customer service counter offers Western Union money orders and money transfers, payroll check cashing up to $1,000, an ATM, Coinstar coin exchange and fax services, according to the company’s website.

Boise, Idaho-based WinCo Foods is majority employee-owned through an employee stock ownership plan and operates supermarkets in 10 states, primarily in the West and Texas.
