Publix opened two new stores Oct. 28: a 46,791-square-foot store at Commons at Carolina Shores, 9770 Ocean Highway W. in Calabash, North Carolina, and a 48,397-square-foot store at Publix at Independence, 5135 Jenkins Drive in Independence, Kentucky.

“We’re excited to open our doors in Calabash and introduce more customers to the Publix experience,” said Jared Glover, Publix media relations manager. “From the dedication of our associates and the premier service they provide to the quality products our customers trust, we’re committed to making a positive impact both inside our store and throughout the community we serve.”

Of the Independence store, Glover said: “We’re excited to open another location in Northern Kentucky. The warm welcome we’ve received from our new customers has been incredible, and we look forward to returning that hospitality with the exceptional service and quality products Publix is known for.”

Both stores feature Publix’s traditional departments: a full-service deli with an international olive selection and more than 150 artisan cheeses; produce with organic, conventional and locally grown options alongside floral; a bakery staffed by bakers and cake decorators; a meat department with custom cuts and the company’s private label all-natural and organic GreenWise chicken, plus ready-to-cook items prepared fresh daily; fresh, never-frozen seafood with hand-rolled sushi made daily; and a full-service pharmacy with a drive-thru. Publix Delivery is available at both locations through Instacart, and the Independence store adds an adjacent Publix Liquors location.

The Calabash opening deepens the Lakeland, Florida-based grocer’s presence along the Carolinas’ coast near the North Carolina-South Carolina line, while Independence extends the grocer’s recent expansion into Northern Kentucky.
