The wave of Thanksgiving value programs keeps building. Price Rite Marketplace, Winn-Dixie and BJ’s Wholesale Club are the latest grocers to announce holiday meal deals, joining Aldi, Lidl, Sam’s Club, Schnucks and Wegmans in competing for budget-minded holiday shoppers. The latest offers range from complete meals for less than $3.90 per person to a free turkey with purchase, as retailers lean on price certainty to win the season’s biggest food-shopping trip.
Price Rite Marketplace: complete meal for less than $3.90 per person
Price Rite Marketplace has developed two suggested shopping lists showing how customers can prepare a complete Thanksgiving meal for 10 people for $39 or less, using regularly priced items available in stores from Oct. 30-Nov. 26.
The traditional Thanksgiving list includes a whole turkey, Bowl & Basket stuffing mix, gravy mix, cranberry sauce, green beans, French fried onions and whipped topping, plus an 8-inch pie, dinner rolls, russet potatoes and fresh onions, carrots and celery. A Hispanic-inspired holiday list builds a meal around pork shoulder, rice, pigeon peas, Goya Sazón, fresh yucca, green bananas and the ingredients for flan and macaroni salad.
“Thanksgiving is a time for family, tradition and sharing a great meal, and we believe celebrating the holiday shouldn’t come with a hefty price tag,” said Bill Devin, SVP at Price Rite Marketplace. “Our Thanksgiving shopping guides offer customers an affordable way to bring a full holiday meal to the table for less than $3.90 per person.”
Price Rite Marketplace, a Wakefern Food Corp. banner, operates 53 stores in seven Northeastern states.
Winn-Dixie: two meals under $40

Jacksonville, Florida-based Winn-Dixie is offering two holiday meal options under $40: a traditional cook-at-home dinner and a ready-to-heat alternative.
The $38.90 cook-at-home meal, available Nov. 11-25 at all of the company’s stores in Florida and Georgia, serves six and includes a 10- to 14-pound Butterball frozen turkey, SE Grocers stuffing, gravy mix, cranberry sauce and dinner rolls, green bean casserole ingredients, cut sweet potatoes and a bakery pumpkin pie.
The $39.99 heat-and-serve deli meal, available Nov. 4-Dec. 29, serves three to five and lets customers choose a Dietz & Watson Carver ham or turkey plus four Reser’s sides, from cornbread stuffing to mashed sweet potatoes, with King’s Hawaiian dinner rolls.
BJ’s Wholesale Club: free turkey returns
BJ’s Wholesale Club’s annual free turkey promotion runs Oct. 31-Nov. 9. Members who spend $150 or more in one transaction in club, through the mobile app or on BJs.com qualify for a free fresh or frozen Butterball turkey, with a coupon value of up to $25. Coupons become available Nov. 14, and turkeys can be claimed online or in club by Nov. 25, while supplies last.
“Our free turkey giveaway is a member favorite. We’re excited to help our members save money while feeding family and friends at Thanksgiving,” said Dave Rajkovich, SVP of perishables at BJ’s Wholesale Club, which is based in Marlborough, Massachusetts.
The warehouse club operator, which runs 268 clubs in 22 states, will be closed chainwide on Thanksgiving Day and reopen Nov. 27.
