Stater Bros. Markets has promoted Kelvin Austin to VP of store operations and Mani Subramanian to VP of information technology applications, effective Sept. 28.
“Kelvin and Mani exemplify the company’s focus on collaboration and teamwork,” said Greg McNiff, president and CEO of the San Bernardino, California-based grocer. “I am proud of their accomplishments and look forward to seeing their contributions toward our company’s future success.”
Austin will report to Bertha Luna, EVP of store operations, and will lead the store operations workforce in executing the company’s strategic plans for financial growth and continued profitability. He joined Stater Bros. in 1999 as a clerk and later served as a trainer and buyer/merchandiser. He was promoted to retail grocery supervisor in 2018 and district manager in 2021, most recently serving as senior director of retail in store operations.
Austin holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Redlands, is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Food Industry Management program and completed the WAFC Retail Management Certificate Program.
Subramanian will report to Mike Reed, EVP and CFO, and will be responsible for supporting all IT applications and the development and delivery of new software platforms. He joined Stater Bros. in 2017 as manager of core applications in the IT department, transitioned to manager of IT applications in 2019 and most recently served as senior director of IT applications.
Subramanian holds a Master of Computer Applications from Bharathidasan University, a bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Madras and a higher diploma in software engineering from Aptech, and completed a certificate in global business leadership from Universitas 21 Global.
Stater Bros., the largest privately owned supermarket chain in Southern California, operates nearly 170 stores with 18,000 employees and is marking its 90th year.
