Weis Markets has opened a Gas N’ Go Fuel Center at its store in Lusby, Maryland, on HG Trueman Road. The grocer marked the grand opening Sept. 17 with a ribbon cutting and $500 donations to the SMILE (Service Makes Individual Lives Exciting) Thrift Shop Food Pantry and Our Lady Star of the Sea School.

The six-pump fuel center, which began construction in May, will be open daily from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. and extends the Sunbury, Pennsylvania-based grocer’s loyalty program to the pump: customers earn Weis Rewards points at checkout and can redeem them for 10 cents off per gallon for every 100 points, up to a maximum of 1,000 points for a $1-per-gallon discount.

“Opening a new Gas N’ Go Fuel Center at our Lusby store is another way we’re delivering greater value and convenience for our customers,” said Dennis Curtin, Weis Markets director of public relations. “With Weis Gas Rewards, shoppers can turn the points they earn at checkout into savings at the pump, helping their grocery dollars go even further.”

The opening continues a steady fuel-center buildout for Weis, particularly in Maryland, where recent Gas N’ Go additions include Callaway last year and new stores in Charlotte Hall and Lake Linganore that opened with six-pump fuel centers built in.

The Lusby celebration drew a slate of company leaders, including COO Bob Gleeson and VP of Marketing and Advertising Maria Rizzo, for the check presentations to the two Calvert County organizations.

Founded in 1912, Weis Markets operates 202 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
