Sprouts Farmers Market opened two stores Aug. 21, one in Waco, Texas, at 4633 S. Jack Kultgen Expressway, Suite 104, and one in Inglewood, California, at 8451 Crenshaw Blvd. Each is the first Sprouts location in its city.
The stores held ribbon-cuttings at 6:45 a.m., with doors opening at 7 a.m., and both are open daily from 7 a.m.-10 p.m.
The Inglewood store had been scheduled to open July 10, according to the company’s website, which later listed the Aug. 21 date.
Both stores marked the openings with weekend activities running Aug. 21-23. The first 200 shoppers on Friday and Saturday received a free reusable tote, and the first 400 guests on Friday received a free long-stem rose courtesy of Falcon Farms Floral. Shoppers also could sample products in-store.
Shoppers who signed up for a Sprouts Rewards account could receive 20 percent off one purchase during the grand opening weekend.
The stores carry fresh produce sourced in partnership with local and regional farmers, along with protein offerings including No Antibiotics Ever chicken, 100 percent grass-fed beef, sustainably sourced seafood and vegetarian and vegan options.
Lunch offerings include $5 sushi specials every Wednesday, with sushi rolled fresh in-store daily; build-your-own and grab-and-go sandwiches starting at $4.99, featuring Sprouts Brand deli meats that are free from preservatives and nitrates and sliced daily; and Sprouts Wellness Bowls, ready-to-eat meals made in-store daily starting at $8.99. The deli also offers ready-to-eat meals and heat-and-eat prepared foods.
Each store carries an assortment of more than 7,000 vitamins, supplements and wellness products, with wellness staff available to answer customer questions. The bulk department features hundreds of bins and barrels of roasted coffee beans, rice, nuts, dried fruits, granolas, trail mixes, baking essentials, spices and sweets, sold by the scoop. All bulk products are free from artificial colors and artificial flavors.
Sprouts Rewards members earn points on in-store and online purchases and gain access to member events and offers. The program is free to join, with points starting after a member’s first purchase, and is available at all Sprouts locations.
The Waco store works with local and regional farmers including J&B Farms and Little Bear Produce to source local produce, and will donate groceries that are no longer fit for sale but remain edible to the Central Texas Food Bank through Sprouts’ Food Rescue program. The Inglewood store works with Gotham Greens and G&M Farms and will donate through the same program to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
