An exterior overhaul is joining interior upgrades already underway at the H-E-B at 35 and Calton store in Laredo, Texas.
The store will remain fully operational throughout the project.
The San Antonio-based grocer began the comprehensive interior work earlier this year to improve the shopping experience and support an expanded product assortment. Much of that project includes equipment upgrades, such as a new HVAC system and refrigeration coolers and cases.
Other interior updates involve remodeling and expanding multiple departments, including the Meat Market, Deli, Seafood, Pharmacy and Blooms floral departments. A Healthy Living section was recently added, offering bulk food items, sports nutrition products and supplements, and an expanded Sushiya area will now include Asian grill items such as noodle and rice bowls.
“At H-E-B, we’re always looking for ways to invest in our stores and enhance the shopping experience for customers,” said Gilberto Almaraz, the location’s top store leader. “Inside and out, we hope the fresh, new look we create will be something that this vibrant community can be proud of for many years to come.”
Construction on the exterior began in early August and could take a few months to complete. The work will update the entryways and modernize the facade, allowing for more natural light and creating a more welcoming experience. Additional upgrades will be made to the parking lot to add more parking spaces. While some renovations have already started, most of the work will begin in September and be completed by spring 2027.
H-E-B, which has served Laredo for decades, operates more than 455 stores in Texas and Mexico, with more than 175,000 employees serving customers in more than 300 communities.
