Allegiance Retail Services opened a new Foodtown in Brooklyn, New York’s northern Bay Ridge neighborhood on June 26, with its product mix curated for the area.
ARS said Bay Ridge is home to residents of Arabic, Irish, Italian, Greek, Asian, Hispanic and other descents, so the store offers an assortment of international foods and specialty products, including Halal foods. It also carries fresh produce, meats, seafood, bakery items and everyday essentials.
The 9,000-square-foot newly constructed supermarket is at the site of a former Rite Aid at 6900 4th Ave.
Neighborhood reflection
“We’re proud to welcome this new Foodtown to the Brooklyn community of Bay Ridge and applaud our independent retailer for creating a supermarket that truly reflects the neighborhood it serves,” said Joseph Fantozzi, president and COO of ARS.

The store also offers hundreds of Best Yet private label brand items in the food and household goods categories.
Location, location, location
ARS said the store enjoys an “ideal location” on the corner of Fourth and Bay Ridge avenues, across from a subway stop.
ARS added that on opening day, shoppers commented on the convenience of being able to stop in after work to pick up groceries, prepared meals and grab-and-go items.
In addition, the store offers online shopping with Foodtown’s proprietary On the Go! platform, as well as other third-party online choices.
Iselin, New Jersey-based ARS supports independent supermarkets including Foodtown, Freshtown, D’Agostino, Gristedes, Pathmark, Pathmark Daily, LaBella Marketplace, Brooklyn Harvest, Market Fresh, Big Deal Food Market, Green Way Markets and Shop n Bag. It provides marketing, advertising, technological and merchandising support.
