Allegiance Retail Services has shared that Jason Ferreira, a co-op member and vice chairman of the board of directors, has been named acting chairman of the board and CEO, effective immediately.
Ferreira has served on Allegiance’s board of directors since 2021 and has been a co-op member since 2013. The change is part of the board’s succession development plan. He will serve as acting chairman until the board and chairman appointments are finalized at the Allegiance Annual Member Meeting on May 20.
Outgoing Chairman Lou Scaduto voluntarily stepped down at this time to help ensure a smooth leadership transition. No further details about Scaduto’s departure or future plans were provided in the announcement.
Industry recognition
Ferreira’s accomplishments include the implementation of technology innovations, a strong commitment to community safety and crime prevention initiatives and numerous philanthropic efforts — most notably his longtime support of the Foundation Fighting Blindness.
He serves on the National Supermarket Association Board of Directors and was recognized with the Exceptional Independents Award in 2025.
