Island Pacific Seafood Market is celebrating the opening of its 22nd supermarket at 4044 N. Eagle Rock Blvd. in the Glassell Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, bringing authentic Filipino groceries, fresh seafood, meats, produce and specialty foods to the northeast part of the city.
Following an Oct. 30 soft opening, during which families gathered for a traditional Filipino blessing and shared meals at the store’s PhilHouse foodservice counter, the supermarket celebrates its grand opening Nov. 5.
The opening follows Filipino American History Month and highlights Ipasa Natin (“Pass It On”), Island Pacific’s campaign celebrating the Filipino tradition of sharing food, stories and cultural heritage across generations. The grocery company said the new location reflects its continued investment in neighborhoods that have deep Filipino-American roots.
“Every new Island Pacific represents an investment in the community we serve,” said CEO Maite Defensor. “We want families to have convenient access to quality groceries at affordable prices while creating a welcoming place where neighbors of all backgrounds can discover and enjoy Filipino food and culture.”
“For Filipino families in Eagle Rock and Glassell Park, the familiar taste of home is now just down the street,” said Giselle Tongi-Walters, marketing and community partnerships director at Island Pacific. “When families can afford to keep their favorite dishes on the table, they also keep their traditions alive. That’s the heart of Ipasa Natin, passing on the flavors, memories and stories that connect us.”
Island Pacific Supermarkets are known for selling authentic Filipino food products and a diverse range of groceries. It operates locations in California and Nevada as well as one store in Washington state, according to the company’s website.
