Island Pacific Supermarket opened a new store Sept. 26 in Federal Way, Washington.
The event drew hundreds of families, community leaders and dignitaries, marking a milestone for Island Pacific and the region’s Filipino-American community.
The grand-opening celebration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, cultural performances and opening weekend promotions. Guests enjoyed giveaways, live entertainment and the unveiling of the store’s Philhouse restaurant, offering freshly prepared Filipino dishes.
The festivities extended beyond the supermarket itself, with the openings of San Honore Bakeshop and Max’s Restaurant inside the Federal Way location. The success of these openings added to the celebratory spirit and reinforced Island Pacific’s vision of bringing Filipino food culture together under one roof.
“We are humbled by the overwhelming support from the Federal Way community,” said Maite Defensor, CEO of Island Pacific Supermarket.
“Our mission has always been to bring malasakit – care and compassion – to everything we do, and this opening proves that when we lead with heart, we create more than a supermarket. We create a home for culture, food and family.”
