Grocery MarketMoves

Sprouts Farmers Market is continuing its store-opening streak with four new locations over back-to-back weekends: stores in Arlington, Virginia, and College Station, Texas, opened Sept. 25, while stores in Limerick, Pennsylvania, and San Diego, California, open Oct. 2.

The Arlington store, at 3115 Langston Blvd., sources local produce from partners including Parker Farms and will donate recovered groceries to the Capital Area Food Bank through Sprouts’ Food Rescue program.

The College Station store, at 1913 Texas Ave. S., works with J&B Farms and Little Bear Produce and will donate to the Houston Food Bank.

This Friday’s openings include the Limerick store at 36 W. Ridge Pike, continuing the specialty grocer’s push into the Northeast. The store partners with Harnish Farms and Frecon Farms and will donate to Philabundance.

The San Diego store at 3245 El Cajon Blvd. works with Gotham Greens and Family Tree Farms and will donate to Feeding San Diego.

Grand opening

Each store opens with a 6:45 a.m. ribbon-cutting and 7 a.m. doors on its opening Friday, followed by a weekend of activities. The first 200 shoppers on Friday and Saturday receive a free reusable tote, the first 400 Friday guests receive a long-stem rose courtesy of Falcon Farms Floral, and shoppers who sign up for Sprouts Rewards can take 20 percent off one purchase during the opening weekend.

The stores feature Sprouts’ signature departments:

  • fresh produce at the center of the store;
  • proteins spanning No Antibiotics Ever chicken, grass-fed beef and sustainably sourced seafood;
  • deli with $4.99 sandwiches and $5 sushi Wednesdays;
  • more than 7,000 vitamins, supplements and wellness products; and
  • a bulk department.

All four of the new Sprouts locations will be open daily 7 a.m.-10 p.m.

The specialty retailer of fresh, natural and organic food surpassed the 500-store mark in September.
