Lidl US will open a new store in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood on Oct. 7. The store, at 335 Eighth Ave. in New York, spans more than 12,100 square feet.

The grand opening will begin at 7:40 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and the opening will include special discounts on fresh produce, bakery goods and non-food items. Store hours will be 8 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week.

The Chelsea store will offer fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and pantry essentials, along with private-label staples and international specialties. Its non-food aisle will feature rotating weekly items ranging from kitchenware to seasonal home goods. An in-store bakery will offer fresh items throughout the day, including Lidl’s butter croissant for 49 cents.

“We are thrilled to bring our proven concept and our lowest prices to a new location right in Central Manhattan,” said Jassine Ouali, chief customer officer at Lidl US. “Our goal is to transform grocery shopping in New York by delivering outstanding quality, maximum freshness and a fantastic shopping experience – all at prices that provide real relief to our customers’ wallets. Whether it’s fresh produce for dinner, exciting weekly non-food finds or a flaky croissant in the morning, we invite all New Yorkers to experience the Lidl difference. We remain relentlessly committed to bringing low prices to NYC every single day.”

“My team and I can’t wait to open our doors to the Chelsea community,” said Brayan Garcia, store manager of Lidl Chelsea. “We’ve worked hard to create a store that combines the freshest produce, daily baked goods, unique non-food offers and a fast, effortless shopping experience. We look forward to serving our clients every single day.”

Lidl US stores also feature an in-store bakery with breads and pastries prepared throughout the day, along with fruits, vegetables and meats. The stores offer rotating weekly deals on home essentials, kitchen gadgets, apparel and seasonal items, and customers can receive personalized offers and rewards through the retailer’s Lidl Plus loyalty program.

Lidl, part of Schwarz Group, operates around 12,900 stores in 32 countries and employs more than 395,000 people. Lidl US opened its headquarters in Virginia in 2015 and its first U.S. stores in 2017. The company now operates more than 200 stores across nine East Coast states.
