Publix opened its newest Kentucky store on Sept. 23 at The Shops at Pear Orchard in Elizabethtown.
The 50,325-square-foot store at 1311 Pear Orchard Road continues the Lakeland, Florida-based grocer’s expansion in Kentucky, where it opened its first store in Louisville in January 2024 and has since signed leases for several additional locations throughout the state. According to the Publix website, the company operated eight stores in Kentucky around the time of the opening.
The store features a full-service deli with more than 150 artisan cheeses, a scratch bakery baking breads and rolls fresh throughout the day, and a produce department carrying organic, conventional and locally grown offerings alongside a floral department. The meat department includes custom cuts and Publix’s private label GreenWise all-natural and organic chicken, while the seafood department offers fresh, never-frozen whole fish and fillets, shellfish and daily hand-rolled sushi.
A full-service pharmacy with a drive-thru rounds out the store, and an adjacent Publix Liquors location offers beer, wine and spirits. Delivery is available through Instacart.
Charitable contributions mark opening
To celebrate the opening and recognize Hunger Action Month, Publix Super Markets Charities made financial contributions to three Elizabethtown-area organizations: $131,000 to Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland, and $10,000 each to Warm Blessings and Helping Hand of Hope.
