Soupergirl, the Washington, D.C.-based fresh soup brand, is expanding to hundreds of additional retail locations this fall, including more Costco, Giant and ShopRite stores, as the company reports doubling revenue year over year since 2023.

The female-founded brand’s expansion includes additional Costco locations in the Pacific Northwest and California, plus more than 300 stores through ShopRite and Giant as well as premium markets including Fairway, Gourmet Garage and Kings in the mid-Atlantic and tristate regions. The company’s plant-based soups, salsas and gazpachos now reach more than 1,000 traditional and natural food retail locations, alongside its direct-to-consumer business.

“From the Northeast to the Pacific Northwest, our continued growth proves that scaling a business and staying true to our values are not mutually exclusive,” said Sara Polon, co-founder of Soupergirl. “Seeing Soupergirl at my hometown grocer, Giant, is especially meaningful. This is where my mom took me food shopping growing up, and now, they are stocking Soupergirl soups. It’s a full circle moment for me.”

Food safety, sourcing credentials

Soupergirl’s clean-label products are gluten-free, dairy-free and certified kosher, made in small batches in an SQF-certified factory with domestically sourced produce. The company said its kosher certification assures every leaf and vegetable is washed and checked before production, and small batch production provides full traceability of ingredients and finished products.

In 2022, Soupergirl became the first CPG brand to receive Fair Food certification, and its tomatoes are grown exclusively on Fair Food Program farms, where worker protections such as clean restrooms and hand-washing facilities support both working conditions and food safety. The company also composts nearly 300 tons of food scraps annually.

Founded in 2008 by Polon and her mother, Marilyn Polon, Soupergirl grew from a local soup delivery concept into a national CPG company, with products at retailers including Whole Foods Market, Costco, MOM’s, Giant, Safeway and ShopRite.
