Retailer Owned Food Distributors & Associates has named Spins IX-One its preferred content provider, adding a standardized product-data layer to the cooperative’s expanding effort to give independent grocers the same data infrastructure the nation’s largest chains run on.
Third layer of a data buildout
The designation gives ROFDA members and their CPG partners access to IX-One’s syndicated network, delivering standardized images, rich product attribution and AI-ready item data intended to reduce data friction and accelerate the flow of product information from warehouse to shelf.
It also extends a deliberate infrastructure buildout for the Pinson, Alabama-based cooperative, which launched a unified retail media network last year and rolled out its BRdata-powered ROFDA Data Cloud this summer, aggregating point-of-sale data from member wholesalers representing thousands of independent stores.
“Independent grocers have an outsized impact on the communities they serve, and our members deserve the same high-quality data infrastructure used by the nation’s largest retailers,” said Mark Deuschle, president and CEO of ROFDA. “IX-One provides our members and their CPG partners with a single, dependable connection that simplifies the flow of product information between brands, distributors, and retailers, allowing everyone to stay focused on growth.”
AI raises the stakes
The stakes reach beyond operational efficiency. The independent grocery channel generates $557.5 billion in total annual economic activity, according to the National Grocers Association, and as AI increasingly shapes how products are discovered, from search to the conversational shopping assistants rolling out across the industry, rich and accurate item data determines whether a product surfaces at all.
“Independent retail is a massive and often underleveraged opportunity for CPG brands, and one of the biggest barriers to entry has always been the complexity of sharing accurate product data across so many different partners,” said Jay Margolis, CEO of Spins.

“IX-One was built to solve exactly that, and our partnership with ROFDA means brands can now connect across one of the most powerful independent networks in the country with confidence in the quality and consistency of their content,” he added.
ROFDA represents retailer-owned and independent wholesale distributors and select self-distributing retailers, serving thousands of independent grocers nationwide. Spins is a CPG data and intelligence provider whose platforms help brands, retailers and partners turn marketplace data into growth opportunities.
