Heritage Grocers Group, Executive Leadership Appointments / August 2026

Heritage Grocers Group, one of the largest Hispanic and ethnic food retailers in the U.S., has announced a slate of executive leadership appointments and internal promotions spanning operations, technology, merchandising, logistics and human resources.

The Ontario, California-based company said the moves reflect an operating model built to support the unique needs of each of its four banners, Cardenas Markets, El Rancho Supermercado, Tony’s Fresh Market and Los Altos Ranch Market, while preserving the qualities that make them distinct.

By staying closely connected to our stores and communities, we can continue building on the unique strengths that define each of our banners.”

The leadership appointments include:

  • Ryan Adams as division president, Cardenas Markets and Los Altos Ranch Market, where he oversees operations and supports the continued growth of both banners.
  • Maria McDonald as chief people officer, leading the company’s people strategy, talent development, leadership development and culture initiatives.
  • Gil Salazar as chief information officer, leading the company’s technology strategy and digital initiatives that support customers, Team Members and business operations.
  • Jay Sharrock as division president, El Rancho Supermercado, where he oversees operations and supports the banner’s continued success.

The company also recognized internal leaders with expanded responsibilities across key business functions:

  • Adrian Castañeda has been appointed chief logistics officer, leading transportation, distribution and supply chain operations across the organization.
  • Vince Gambino has been appointed chief merchandising officer, leading merchandising strategy, product assortment, sourcing, pricing and vendor partnerships.
  • Adam Salgado has been appointed chief experience officer, overseeing omnichannel, marketing and customer engagement strategies.

Heritage Grocers Group operates 116 stores across California, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, Kansas and Illinois, with 58 under the Cardenas Markets banner and 29 under El Rancho Supermercado. It also has 22 Tony’s Fresh Market stores and seven Los Altos Ranch Markets.
