The store rendering shows Big Gary’s Famous Chicken, which honors Earl Redner’s son, the late Gary W. Redner. The menu will feature bone-in fried chicken, wings and strips, made from a secret recipe Gary developed himself.

Redner’s Markets is hiring for about 200 positions ahead of the Oct. 8 opening of its new Wilmington, Delaware, store, the first to use the company’s Fresh Market 2.0 layout.

The 52,000-square-foot store at 4365 Kirkwood Highway in Kirkwood Plaza is filling a former Acme Market site. The employee-owned grocer is seeking a mix of full- and part-time workers across first, second and third shifts in roles including cashier, clerk, receiver and manager. Josh Keefe will serve as store director.

Redner’s will begin onsite hiring Monday, Aug. 3, with a recruiting site at Kirkwood Plaza open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Applicants can also apply online through the company’s website.

“We’re excited to offer job seekers in and around Wilmington a chance to join our employee-owned team at our newest store,” said Ryan Redner, president and CEO. “Our new Fresh Market layout is creating new opportunities for meaningful work that makes life more rewarding for our team members and our customers.”

The Fresh Market 2.0 format centers on foodservice, with in-store eateries and retail islands serving items such as smash burgers, hot doughnuts, lobster rolls and artisanal breads. The store also will feature islands with artisanal cheeses and store-made fresh mozzarella, deli and prepared foods, meat and frozen foods, and organic and gluten-free products.

Redner’s Markets, headquartered in Reading, Pennsylvania, operates 44 grocery stores and 24 Quick Shops in eastern Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware. The Wilmington store will be the company’s seventh in Delaware.
