H-E-B has opened its first store in Murphy, Texas, adding a 116,000-square-foot location at 740 FM 544 and McCreary Road.

The Murphy store joins 13 other H-E-B locations, three Joe V’s Smart Shop stores and six Central Market stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, where the San Antonio-based grocer continues to build its presence.

The new store employs more than 500 team members and operates seven days a week from 6 a.m.-11 p.m.

“Our amazing Partners are excited to join this vibrant community and have been eager to serve customers in the southeastern quadrant of Collin County,” said Juan-Carlos Rück, EVP of North West food/drug operations and real estate at H-E-B.

Store features

The location, which opened July 22, includes a True Texas BBQ restaurant, H-E-B Curbside and home delivery, a full-service pharmacy with drive-thru and a fuel station with car wash.

produce dept H-E-BIn-store departments include a scratch bakery producing artisan breads, cakes and tortillas daily; Sushiya, with in-store sushi and an Asian grill; H-E-B Meal Simple prepared foods; a Cooking Connection demonstration station; a deli with a charcuterie island; produce featuring organic and Texas-grown items; and a meat market carrying Prime, natural and organic cuts, Wagyu and fully cooked options.

The store also has a Blooms floral department with online ordering; a beer and wine selection with a sampling station; a Healthy Living department with bulk foods and supplements; and beauty, pet, household essentials and Texas Backyard garden departments.

Metroplex expansion continues

H-E-B has opened DFW-area stores in Irving, Plano, McKinney, Mid-Cities, Allen, Alliance, Mansfield, Melissa, Prosper, Rockwall, Forney and two in Frisco. Stores in Walsh Ranch, Carrollton and Denton have been announced. The retailer also owns land at Hillcrest Road and LBJ Freeway for its first store within the Dallas city limits.

H-E-B charity donation photoThrough its Spirit of Giving program, H-E-B donated $40,000 to Murphy-area organizations, with $10,000 each going to Camp iHope, Agape Resource & Assistance Center, Bed Start and 5 Loaves Ministries.

H-E-B operates more than 455 stores in Texas and Mexico with sales exceeding $50 billion and more than 175,000 employees. Its other formats include Joe V’s Smart Shop, Central Market, Mi Tienda and the Favor Delivery service.
