Stater Bros. Markets held a groundbreaking ceremony July 9 for a supermarket at the northwest corner of McCall Boulevard and Menifee Road in Menifee, California. Company leadership was joined by several Menifee City Council members and city officials.
The store will anchor the McCall Square shopping center, which also will include a McDonald’s and more than 9,300 square feet of additional retail space.
Construction on the new Stater Bros. store begins later this summer, with completion expected in summer 2027. It will be the company’s fourth store in Menifee.
“Today is particularly meaningful because it marks another milestone in our long history with this community and in our confidence in its future,” said Pete Van Helden, executive chairman of Stater Bros. Markets. “I know many people in this community have been waiting a long time for a grocery store at this location. I am happy to report that ‘coming soon’ has finally arrived.”
Stater Bros. Charities, the grocer’s nonprofit arm, donated $2,500 each to five local organizations: Menifee Valley Community Cupboard, Menifee Santa’s Workshop, Sandals Church Menifee, MIL Vet and Menifee Police Foundation.
San Bernardino, California-based Stater Bros. Markets operates nearly 170 stores in Southern California and employs 18,000. The company is marking its 90th year in business.
