ShopRite of Daleville unveiled its new electric vehicle fast chargers on July 14, giving EV owners the chance to charge up while they shop for groceries.
The four 350kW fast chargers from EVgo are capable of simultaneously charging eight EVs. Depending on the vehicle, drivers can get a full charge in as little as 15 minutes, providing a convenient way for customers to power up their vehicles as they shop the ShopRite, which is located at 921 Drinker Turnpike in Daleville, Pennsylvania.
The Bracey family, owners and operators of Bracey Supermarkets Inc. and the ShopRite of Daleville, joined store associates and community leaders along with representatives of EVgo and the Scranton Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the milestone and talk about the importance of expanding access to chargers.
“We’re excited to bring EVgo fast charging to the ShopRite of Daleville and offer our customers added convenience,” said Laura Bracey, director of operations for Bracey Supermarkets.
“We’re always looking for ways to enhance the shopping experience, and fast, reliable EV charging is another way we’re meeting the needs of our community.”
Important co-op priority
The installation is part of a broader effort by Wakefern Food Corp., the Keasbey, New Jersey-based retailer-owned supermarket cooperative, to expand EV charging access across ShopRite locations and support sustainable infrastructure in the communities it serves.
Bracey Supermarkets, a Wakefern member, has served the area since 1974 and today owns and operates three ShopRite stores: ShopRite of Birney Plaza, ShopRite of Mt. Pocono and ShopRite of Daleville.
“At EVgo, we build charging where life happens,” said Marcy Bauer, SVP of network operations at EVgo. “Our work with the ShopRite of Daleville brings fast, dependable charging to a convenient grocery destination, allowing drivers to quickly power up while they shop.”
There are more than 1,200 EVgo fast charging stations in 47 states, found at retailers, grocery stores, restaurants and transportation providers.
ShopRite is a registered trademark of Wakefern Food Corp. Hundreds of ShopRites operate in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland.
