Sedano’s Supermarkets is responding to the recent earthquakes in Venezuela with an corporate donation of truckloads of bottled water to Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) and the launch of a long-term community donation drive across all 32 store locations in South and Central Florida.

Beginning June 29, all Sedano’s locations will serve as community donation drop-off sites for essential relief supplies.

“At Sedano’s, supporting our communities has always been at the heart of who we are,” said Javier Herrán, CMO at Sedano’s Supermarkets.

“Many of our customers and employees have deep ties to Venezuela, and during times of crisis, we believe it’s our responsibility to bring our community together to help families in need. We are proud to partner with Global Empowerment Mission and invite our customers to join us in making a meaningful difference.”

Customers can drop off nonperishable food, hygiene products, gauze, first-aid supplies, batteries, flashlights and other essential relief supplies at any Sedano’s location. Customers shopping at Orlando-area stores may also make monetary donations at checkout, which will be used to purchase additional relief supplies for delivery to Global Empowerment Mission.

“Our commitment extends beyond today’s donation,” said Pedro Mesa, director of community affairs at Sedano’s Supermarkets. “We will continue supporting relief efforts for as long as the need exists, working closely with our partners to respond as recovery efforts evolve.”

The community donation drive will remain in place until further notice. Sedano’s will work alongside Global Empowerment Mission to adjust future donations and provide additional support where it is needed most.
