Schnuck Markets Inc. has announced “Fresh Guarantee,” a promise to customers that purchases from the grocer’s fresh departments are guaranteed fresh.
If customers are not satisfied with the freshness of a perishable item bought from the floral, produce, bakery, deli, meat, seafood or dairy departments, Schnucks will exchange it or issue a full refund with no questions asked.
“At Schnucks, we’re committed to being fanatically fresh, and we strive to ensure we provide our customers with the freshest products possible,” said Kim Gray, chief merchant.
“Our ‘Fresh Guarantee’ is our personal vow to Schnucks shoppers – one we don’t make lightly – that we stand behind the quality and freshness of our products, without exception.”
To support freshness and quality, Schnucks operates a bakery plant and floral design center, supplying 112 stores in the Midwest with daily shipments of baked goods, custom-decorated cakes and fresh floral arrangements.
“Our confidence in the ‘Fresh Guarantee’ comes from the proprietary sourcing programs and expert in-store execution happening behind the scenes every single day. We are proud to put our name on a guarantee this strong because our teams do the daily work to earn our customers’ trust,” Gray said.
The company noted that its standard of freshness also is driven by store-level programs. Schnucks butchers cut and hand-trim meats – including the Certified Angus Beef brand – and prepare ground beef and handmade brats daily.
Each bakery features doughnuts made fresh every morning, while the produce department offers fruits and vegetables picked for freshness and triple-inspected for quality.
The deli has ready-to-eat items, from Dietz & Watson meats and cheeses sliced to order to Schnucks’ fried chicken and rotisserie chickens, which are guaranteed to be in stock from 3-7 p.m. daily.
Fresh products purchased via Schnucks Delivers and Curbside Pickup also are covered by the guarantee, according to the company.
Refund and exchange requests are accepted within seven days of purchase and must be accompanied by a paper or electronic receipt.
Refunds will be provided using the original payment method. The guarantee excludes center store packaged groceries, frozen items, markdown items and other packaged groceries sometimes found in fresh departments.
Per USDA regulations, WIC purchases other than baby formula may not be returned for a cash refund but may be exchanged for identical food items if the product is defective, spoiled or was out of code at the time of sale. Complete details are available at schnucks.com/fresh-guarantee.
