Schnuck Markets Inc. has launched Culinaria Italian Table, a super-premium private label line of more than 40 directly imported Italian products now available at all 112 Schnucks stores.
The line – spanning pastas, sauces, olive oils and vinegars, with more products to follow this fall – is positioned as a trusted, high-value alternative to higher-priced specialty imports, aiming to capture spending that might otherwise go to specialty markets or import shops. Each product prominently highlights its Italian origin, and the assortment is exclusive to Schnucks, merchandised in dedicated displays as well as in-aisle alongside complementary products.
“Our goal is to simplify and enhance our customers’ grocery shopping experiences while also bringing them extraordinary quality at an affordable price,” said Tim Horton, VP of center store at Schnucks. “With Italian Table products directly from Italy, we are giving home chefs and food lovers a way to easily enjoy authentic flavors every day in the comfort of their own homes.”
Encouraging trial
The launch debuts alongside Schnucks’ semi-annual “Taste of Italy” event, giving the line a built-in merchandising showcase, and the St. Louis-based grocer is offering 25 percent or more off all Italian Table products through Oct. 13 as a trial incentive.
The initial launch covers key shelf-stable grocery categories, with future plans to extend into Schnucks’ fresh departments.
