Food Lion is opening two stores in the greater Greenville market this month, expanding its network there to 49 locations. The Lavonia, Georgia, store at 12260 Augusta Road opens Oct. 14, and the Greenville, South Carolina, store at 2111 N. Pleasantburg Drive follows Oct. 21.
In Lavonia, Food Lion acquired Dill’s Food City and builds on the foundation the Dilworth family created over the past 91 years; in Greenville, Food Lion purchased a former Bi-Lo location.
“Dill’s Food City has proudly served the Lavonia community for 91 years, and it’s an honor to be part of this next chapter,” said Barbara Sievenpiper, store manager of the Lavonia Food Lion. “After 36 years with Food Lion, I’m so excited to help open our new Lavonia store and work alongside the familiar faces who have served this community for so long. We look forward to continuing that tradition and becoming a trusted part of Lavonia for many years to come.”
Renovation features
Both acquired stores have been renovated with a bright, modern layout and offer ready-to-eat, ready-to-cook and ready-to-heat meal solutions, fresh produce, quality meats and organic, gluten-free and plant-based items, along with in-store prepared cut fruit, a self-service wing and hot favorites bar and self-checkout lanes. Pickup and home delivery are available through Instacart, DoorDash and Uber Eats, and both locations carry the grocer’s Nature’s Promise brand and Local Goodness program items from Georgia and South Carolina suppliers.
“My team and I look forward to serving Greenville and becoming a store neighbors can count on in every moment,” said Chris Tague, store manager of the Greenville Food Lion.
The two stores are among 10 new Food Lion locations scheduled to open in 2026. Ribbon cuttings begin at 7:45 a.m. at each opening, with the first 100 customers in line receiving a mystery gift card valued up to $200 and a reusable shopping bag. Store hours are 7 a.m.-11 p.m. daily.
Hunger relief support
Through its Food Lion Feeds platform, the grocer has donated the equivalent of 25,000 meals each to Rainbow Food Pantry in Royston, Georgia, and Catholic Charities in Greenville via $2,500 contributions to each organization. Both nonprofits also will regularly collect unsaleable, edible food from the stores. Food Lion Feeds has provided more than 1.5 billion meals since 2014, with a goal of 3 billion by 2032.
Salisbury, North Carolina-based Food Lion, a company of Ahold Delhaize USA, operates more than 1,100 stores in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states.
