Publix Super Markets has executed a lease on a new store location in Louisville, Kentucky, at the northwest corner of Bardstown Road and Rosewood Avenue in the city’s Highlands neighborhood.
Publix at Mid City Market will feature a 54,948-square-foot supermarket and an adjacent 3,200-square-foot Publix Liquors. The store will employ approximately 150 associates. An opening time frame has not been determined.
“We are excited to continue our growth across Louisville with a new location in the Highlands,” said Jared Glover, media relations manager for Publix. “We look forward to serving our new customers soon.”
The lease is the latest in Kentucky store announcements for the Lakeland, Florida-based grocer, which entered the state in January 2024 with its first store at Louisville’s Terra Crossing Shopping Center and opened its second Louisville location on Ballardsville Road last September. Publix has continued signing leases across the commonwealth this year, including three stores in Bowling Green, Richmond and Versailles in April and a Nicholasville location in May, adding to announced sites in Georgetown, Owensboro and northern Kentucky.
Publix, the largest employee-owned company in the U.S. with more than 260,000 associates, operates 1,444 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky. For 29 consecutive years, the company has been recognized by Fortune as a great place to work.
