Met Fresh celebrated the grand opening of its first Philadelphia location Aug. 6, welcoming local officials, community leaders, business partners and neighborhood residents to the full-service supermarket at 2014 S. Broad Street in South Philadelphia.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony was attended by Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson, Associated Supermarket Group Co-President and CEO Zulema Wiscovitch, business partners and members of the community.
“We are excited to officially open our doors and become part of the South Philadelphia community,” said Omar Hamdan, owner of Met Fresh. “Our goal is to provide affordable, fresh and high-quality products, outstanding service and a neighborhood supermarket our customers can rely on every day. We look forward to building lasting relationships and serving this community for years to come.”
Strategic location
Located along one of the city’s busiest commercial corridors, the store offers a broad selection of fresh produce, meats, dairy, bakery items, pantry essentials, frozen foods and locally sourced products, along with a full-service deli and on-site pharmacy. The store also offers free grocery delivery for seniors, helping improve access to fresh, nutritious food throughout the community.
The independently owned and operated location marks the Met Fresh banner’s entry into Philadelphia and reflects ASG’s continued investment in independently owned supermarkets.
Associated Supermarket Group provides retail solutions to independently owned grocery stores in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, including distribution, marketing, merchandising, promotional services and store financing. ASG’s banners include Associated, Associated Fresh, Compare, Compare Fresh, Met Foods, Met Fresh, Pioneer and other independently named stores, along with the private label Avenue A.
