Weis Markets celebrated the grand reopening of its remodeled store at 9270 All Saints Road in Laurel, Maryland, on Aug. 6 with a ribbon cutting and check presentation at 11 a.m.
The Sunbury, Pennsylvania-based grocer presented donations to First Baptist Church of Savage, Laurel Advocacy & Referral Services Inc. and Forest Ridge Elementary School.
What changed
The remodel touched most of the store’s fresh departments:
- Expanded market-style produce department with a wider variety of fresh items;
- Full-service seafood and meat departments;
- Reworked deli and food service area adding pizza and sushi, specialty cheeses and an expanded selection of meals to go;
- Revamped bakery with a broader assortment;
- Enhanced floral department;
- Refreshed interior and upgraded exterior; and
- Energy-efficient refrigerated and frozen cases using low-impact refrigerants.
The Laurel project continues a steady remodel cadence for Weis, which completed an expansion and remodel in Linglestown, Pennsylvania, in June and opened a new store in Millsboro, Delaware, the same month. The company opened a 65,000-square-foot store in Waldorf, Maryland, in February.
Founded in 1912, Weis Markets operates 202 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, West Virginia and Virginia.
