Giant Food has appointed Gregg Dorazio VP of marketing, the Landover, Maryland-based grocer announced July 21.
Dorazio succeeds Dyani Hanrahan, who departs Giant Food at the end of July after joining the company in 2017.
Dorazio has been part of the leadership team at Giant Food since 2019, most recently as strategy and e-commerce lead. He helped shape the company’s strategic business plans and oversaw its online pickup and delivery operations.
As VP of marketing, Dorazio will oversee brand development, customer engagement across channels and the alignment of marketing strategy with merchandising and operations, the grocer said.
Before joining Giant, Dorazio spent 14 years in brand marketing leadership roles at Ahold Delhaize and General Mills, working across advertising, multicultural marketing, sponsorships, customer development, marketing operations and shopper marketing.
“Gregg’s combination of strategic thinking, marketing expertise and understanding of our customers positions him to lead Giant Food’s marketing organization,” said Ira Kress, president of Giant Food. “His leadership has already contributed to our growth and digital transformation efforts.”
“I look forward to working alongside our teams to build on Giant Food’s momentum and strengthen our customer relationships,” said Dorazio.
Dorazio holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Northwestern University and an MBA from Indiana University. He serves on the board of directors for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County and is executive sponsor of Giant Food’s Corporate Council.
Giant Food operates 163 supermarkets and 153 full-service pharmacies in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia with approximately 20,000 associates. The chain opened its first location in Washington, D.C., in 1936.
