Kroger broke ground July 15 on a new Marketplace store in Princeton, Texas. The store will be part of the Princeton Town Center development, a 66-acre retail complex on the northwest corner of Beauchamp Boulevard and U.S. Highway 380.

Rudy DiPietro, president of Kroger’s Texas division, and Princeton Mayor Eugene Escobar Jr. took part in the ceremonial groundbreaking. The new store is anticipated to open in late 2027.
“Kroger is making a big investment in Collin County because it is one of the most vibrant growth markets in Texas,” DiPietro said. “As more families choose to call this area home, Kroger is growing with them by creating new job opportunities, greater access to fresh and affordable food and providing a shopping experience our customers expect. We believe our new stores will better serve our communities today, while positioning us for continued growth and success in the future.”
Princeton is the third new Kroger Marketplace store to break ground this year in the area, following groundbreakings in McKinney and Fate. It marks the fifth Kroger Marketplace store under construction in North Texas, joining new store locations in Anna, Fate, McKinney and the Sendera Ranch community of North Fort Worth.
A new Kroger Marketplace in Little Elm is set to open July 31.
The Princeton project extends a wave of Kroger expansion across the region. Kroger broke ground Feb. 27 on a Marketplace store at North Custer Road and Frontier Parkway in McKinney, with an opening planned for early 2027. The Fate store, at the northwest corner of William E. Crawford Avenue and the Interstate 30 frontage road in Rockwall County, broke ground March 27 and is scheduled to open in 2027.
In October 2025, Kroger celebrated the grand opening of a 123,000-square-foot Marketplace at 113 East Bonds Ranch Road in Fort Worth. The store represents an investment of $40 million and created 220 jobs.
In addition to its new store pipeline, Kroger Texas plans to refresh 27 stores in 2026.
Kroger has served Texas communities for more than 70 years.
