Giant Eagle Inc. has expanded its partnership with Upside by launching Upside Pay across all of its stores.
The secure mobile payment option gives shoppers instant cash back at the register – no receipt uploads required – while helping Giant Eagle strengthen customer loyalty and drive measurable sales growth.
“We’re always looking for ways to enhance the in-store experience, and Upside Pay is making a clear impact,” said Justin Weinstein, Giant Eagle’s EVP and chief marketing and merchandising officer.
“Customers are showing us it makes their trips more rewarding, and that enthusiasm is translating into stronger loyalty.”
A new feature of Upside Pay also allows customers to apply their cash back balance at the register, keeping those earnings within the Giant Eagle ecosystem. Customers still have flexibility; those who prefer to pay with a card and upload receipts in the Upside app can continue to do so.
“With Upside Pay, Giant Eagle customers get more value instantly, and Giant Eagle sees measurable sales growth with seamless implementation,” said Nick Worswick, Upside’s president of retail go-to-market.

Upside’s marketplace reaches 35 million consumers and supports more than 100,000 businesses across grocery, fuel and restaurants. Billions of dollars in annual commerce run through the platform.
