Certco Inc., a grocery wholesaler serving independent retailers throughout the Midwest, has partnered with Recall InfoLink, a technology provider specializing in food safety communication, giving its roughly 200 independent retail locations faster, more accurate recall communications and other time-sensitive notifications.
The platform is available to all of Certco’s retail locations, which receive recall notices via email notification, according to Whitney Atkins, Certco’s director of retail advertising and marketing.
The technology was tested before rolling out and has been in use since September, Atkins added. It allows retailers to receive and act on critical food safety information more quickly when product concerns arise.
A shared responsibility
“Food safety is one of the most important responsibilities shared by everyone throughout the food supply chain,” said Justyne Uribe, EVP of Certco. “When a food safety issue or product recall occurs, every minute matters. Our partnership with Recall InfoLink gives retailers access to a significantly faster and more efficient notification process, helping ensure critical information reaches the right people quickly so appropriate action can be taken.”
Recall InfoLink’s platform gives suppliers, distributors and retailers a shared system for sending recall notices, confirming receipt and tracking response at every location. It also produces compliance reports and supports mock recall simulations. Clients have managed more than 15,000 recalls on the platform to date.
Madison, Wisconsin-based Certco serves independent grocery retailers with products and services ranging from meat and produce to center store, frozen, dairy, deli, HBC, general merchandise, private brands and marketing and accounting services, housing and distributing 60,000 products from its three distribution centers.
