The Giant Company will celebrate grand reopenings Oct. 2 at two Pennsylvania stores following several months of major renovations. Both stores – in York and Temple – remained open throughout the remodels.
The projects continue a steady run of store investments this year by the Carlisle, Pennsylvania-based Ahold Delhaize USA company, which operates nearly 200 stores as Giant and Martin’s in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
York: Pauline Drive store updated after 35-plus years
The York store at 275 Pauline Drive, which opened in 1990, updated its fresh departments, produce, bakery, meat and seafood, and floral, along with center store aisles, with improved efficiencies and expanded assortment. The deli and prepared foods departments underwent a complete overhaul with more hot and prepared foods and Grab ‘n Go items; the beer and wine area moved to the front corner alongside an updated customer service area; and the pharmacy was fully redesigned with a new consultation room for administering vaccines in a more private setting.
Giant’s signature Wall of Values also was reimagined for one-stop shopping on key circular sale items.
“For more than 35 years, Giant has been proud to serve the grocery needs of the York community here at Pauline Drive,” said Todd Kinter, store manager. “The store team is excited to deliver this completed remodel for our customers, which offers improved flow throughout the various departments, increased product variety across the store, and Giant’s signature focus on value and freshness.”
The York store is open daily 6 a.m. -11 p.m. and employs approximately 225 team members.
Temple: e-commerce workspace expanded
The Temple store at 4320 5th St. Highway, open since 2008, received similar updates to its fresh departments and center store, plus an overhauled deli and prepared foods offering that now includes smoked meats. The beer and wine area and floral department were refreshed with new layouts, and with more customers using Giant Direct, the in-store working space was increased and team member parking lot access added to better serve online grocery pickup customers.
“The Temple store team is excited about what the new remodel has to offer for our customers,” said Daniel Colantuono, store manager. “From more product variety across the store, to better flow throughout the individual departments, and a stronger focus on value and freshness, we are ready to serve shoppers as they navigate through the busy fall season and beyond.”
The Temple store is open daily 7 a.m.-10 p.m. and employs approximately 190 team members.
