Uber Eats and Wakefern Food Corp. have launched a partnership putting more than 375 Wakefern supermarket locations on the Uber Eats platform, expanding on-demand grocery delivery from the cooperative’s banners including ShopRite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Morton Williams, Dearborn Market, Di Bruno Bros., Fairway Market and Gourmet Garage.

The launch rounds out the Keasbey, New Jersey-based cooperative’s third-party marketplace coverage. Wakefern banners joined DoorDash in 2024 and have long been available on Instacart, alongside the co-op’s own in-house digital shopping services, meaning its member-owned stores now reach customers on all three major delivery marketplaces.

Customers can shop a broad assortment including produce, meat, seafood, pantry staples, prepared foods and household essentials, with on-demand and scheduled delivery options. To celebrate the launch, Uber Eats is offering discounts of up to 30 percent off a first order from eligible Wakefern banners, with offers varying by customer and banner, and Uber One members receive no delivery fee on eligible orders.

Another way to serve customers

“As a cooperative made up of family-owned supermarkets with deep roots in communities across the Northeast, our focus has always been on serving our neighbors where and how they shop,” said Darren Caudill, chief sales officer at Wakefern. “Uber Eats gives our stores another way to serve customers where they are, making it easier to get the fresh foods, neighborhood service and the value they count on with added speed and convenience.”

For Uber, the deal continues an aggressive grocery expansion that has added national and regional supermarket brands nationwide as more consumers turn to on-demand delivery for everyday essentials.

“By partnering with Wakefern and adding more than 375 supermarkets to our platform, including beloved banners like ShopRite and Fairway Market, we’re continuing to build a marketplace that brings expansive choice, from full weekly grocery runs to last-minute ingredients, into one seamless app experience,” said Prashant Garg, head of North America for Uber Eats.

Shoppers can access the stores by tapping “Grocery” in the Uber Eats app, selecting their nearest participating location, adding items to a cart and choosing a delivery time, with real-time order tracking.

Founded in 1946 with eight grocery store owners, Wakefern has grown into the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States, with members independently owning and operating hundreds of supermarkets in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island.
