Fresh Thyme Market is running a sweepstakes through Sept. 1 through which it is awarding one shopper $5,000 in gift cards, structured to drive both basket size and vendor brand trial.

MyThyme Rewards members earn one entry per day with a qualifying in-store purchase of $50 or more, and a bonus entry each day when that purchase includes a product from one of five participating brands: Ancient Nutrition, Hippeas, KidFresh, Kodiak or Mighty Spark. Entries began Aug. 5.

Shoppers must enter their MyThyme phone number or scan their loyalty barcode at checkout to qualify. The sweepstakes runs in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin for participants 18 and older, with no purchase necessary.

The program’s structure rewards repeat trips rather than a single large stock-up, and the vendor bonus gives suppliers a measurable trial incentive tied to loyalty data.

“Through the 5K Giveaway, Fresh Thyme is joining with these leading brands to create another opportunity to support and reward our customers,” said President Liz Zolcak. “We know families are focused on making every grocery dollar go further, and they shouldn’t have to sacrifice freshness or quality to do it.”

Building on the loyalty relaunch

The giveaway follows the April addition of MyThyme Rewards Points, which gives members 10 points per dollar with no cap, redeemable in $5 increments through the Fresh Thyme app.

Other current value programs include Freshly Locked Deals holding prices on seasonal items, weekly price reductions across thousands of items, $6 daily deals on prepared items including rotisserie chicken and sushi, and personalized digital offers.

The Downers Grove, Illinois-based grocer also is running its Summer Grab & Give program, which lets shoppers purchase food and personal care items for donation through Feeding America partner food banks.

Fresh Thyme operates about 70 stores in the Midwest.
