Tom Thumb, Albertsons and Randalls have begun a two-week in-store fundraising campaign to fight childhood hunger in North Texas, Louisiana, Houston and Austin, teaming with Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb.

The Back-to-School Nourishing Neighbors Campaign runs July 27-Aug. 10 and is part of the Albertsons Companies Foundation’s “Nourishing Neighbors” initiative. Customers can donate at checkout in several ways: by rounding up to the nearest dollar, selecting a $3, $5 or $7 donation, entering a custom amount, giving cash at donation boxes or scanning a QR code to give online.

Donations will benefit local nonprofits focused on child enrichment and food security, including Boys & Girls Clubs chapters across the campaign’s operating areas.

“At Tom Thumb, Albertsons and Randalls, we’re committed to helping families put food on the table throughout the year, and back-to-school season is an especially important time,” said Bill Neve, regional president of operations at Albertsons Companies. “We’re grateful for CeeDee Lamb’s support and for the generosity of our customers and associates, whose donations will help children and families across our communities start the school year with the nourishment they need.”

Lamb said nutrition matters in the classroom as much as on the field. “I’m excited to partner with Tom Thumb to keep kids fed and healthy this school year,” he said.

Brian Slye, CEO at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Dallas, said the food students receive at the club is sometimes their only reliable meal between school breaks and weekends.

The campaign follows Albertsons Companies Foundation’s “Nourish the American Dream” effort, which raised more than $12.2 million for childhood hunger relief earlier this month.
