Pacific Seafood and Ocean Beauty Seafoods have merged their distribution businesses, combining two family-owned seafood companies. The transaction closed effective July 13. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The merged operations include Ocean Beauty’s distribution facilities in Astoria, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; Dallas, Texas; Helena, Montana; Portland, Oregon; and Renton, Washington.
Ocean Beauty’s Salt Lake City, Utah, distribution facility was not part of the transaction at closing.
“We are excited to bring our teams together by combining the best of both our respective companies, which will make us stronger and better together to serve our valued customers, our communities in which we serve and our joint teams and their families,” said Frank Dulcich, president and CEO of Pacific Seafood, headquartered in Clackamas, Oregon.
The companies serve both retail and foodservice accounts.
Supporting eastward expansion
The merger supports Pacific Seafood’s continued expansion further east and advances its Mission 31 growth strategy. Ocean Beauty’s distribution operations will continue serving existing customers while gaining access to Pacific Seafood’s broader resources and network.
Michael Link, CEO of Bristol Bay Economic Development Corp., a longtime investor in Ocean Beauty, described the deal as “a combination of two companies that are complementary and will create a sustainable and exciting future for all of Ocean Beauty Seafoods customers and team members.”
Founded in 1941, Pacific Seafood is a family-owned company that manages harvesting, fishing, processing, aquaculture and distribution.
Ocean Beauty Seafoods has operated in the U.S. seafood industry for more than 100 years, with distribution facilities across the western U.S.
