Hy-Vee has introduced a new GLP-1 wellness program designed to help people maximize the benefits of their GLP-1 treatment through better nutrition choices and targeted side effect management.

The six-week, self-guided online program is scheduled to begin in mid-July and is open to anyone ages 18 and older. Free sign-up is available to the first 1,000 individuals to pre-register online using the discount code GLP1FREE at checkout (normally a $49 value). The program includes three one-on-one check-ins with a Hy-Vee registered dietitian (in-person or online), 10 video modules and personalized goal setting and support.

Topics covered include:

  • Managing common side effects;
  • Meeting protein needs;
  • Eating smaller, frequent meals;
  • Hydration strategies;
  • Building balanced meals;
  • Increasing fiber intake;
  • Smart snacking ideas;
  • Meal prep basics;
  • Preventing nutrient deficiencies; and
  • Resistance training and muscle preservation.

Customers can also enroll in the program using HSA or FSA funds.

Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program

Hy-Vee’s GLP-1 wellness program follows the recent launch of Medicare’s new GLP-1 Bridge program, which is in effect nationwide through Dec. 31, 2027. The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program is specifically designed for Medicare patients who are prescribed GLP-1 treatment solely for weight loss or weight management, providing eligible patients access to certain GLP-1 medications for $50 per month at pharmacies across the nation, including Hy-Vee’s more than 270 pharmacies. Those prescribed a GLP-1 to treat other conditions such as diabetes or sleep apnea do not qualify for the special pricing. Individuals should consult with their provider or pharmacist to determine eligibility or contact 1-800-MEDICARE.
