Publix has reopened its store in the Island Walk Shopping Center at 1421 Sadler Road in Fernandina Beach, Florida, following a remodel that expanded the location to 55,701 square feet.
The store reopened July 2 with new services including Pours (beer, wine, coffee, tea, smoothies and acai bowls), made-to-order burritos, nachos and bowls, made-to-order pizza and pasta and a specialty popcorn station.
According to news reports, the store closed in April 2025, leaving the northern part of Amelia Island without a major supermarket for months.
“We’re excited to welcome customers back and reopen this store for the community,” said Hannah Herring, media relations manager.
“For many residents, Publix is part of their daily routine, and we know customers have been looking forward to this day. Our associates are ready to serve them in a beautiful new space designed to meet their needs for years to come.”
To mark the occasion, Publix is donating $5,000 in nonperishable food items to Barnabas Center, a nonprofit that provides families with support to enhance their stability, health and overall well-being. The shelf-stable food will be delivered by the Publix Good Together truck.
The store’s traditional departments include a full-service deli with more than 150 artisan cheeses; organic and conventionally grown produce with locally grown choices; and a scratch bakery.
It also has a meat department with custom cuts and Publix private label all-natural and organic GreenWise chicken; a seafood department with fresh, never frozen fish and shellfish; and a full-service pharmacy. Special services include Publix Liquors in an adjacent location and delivery through Instacart.

I toured the new store. A popcorn bar with no popcorn being popped during the late afternoon rush! Not even the smell of popcorn. Publix Pours is a complete flop. Is it a coffee bar, a beer and wine venue or a smoothie joint? Who knows…. since the lighting is so bright you will depart with a deep red sunburn unless you wear SPF 70 protection. Zero identity Publix! Go study Harris Teeter! The prepared food section reminded me of Jacksonville’s last Morrison’s Cafeteria location. The food looked so UNAPPETIZING! Perhaps the only area worth mentioning is their magazine corner rack. A nice up-grade for the .005% of people purchasing an outdated publication! What are you thinking Publix? Without a question the biggest 15 month construction flop in Amelia Island history …no Nassau County history …..on second thought NE Florida history. A truly sad state of affairs!

A lot of absurd Post on here . The popcorn Station is a huge hit and reminds me of Garrett’s popcorn in Chicago! The pizza is better than Harris teeter along with with the sub station and finally the ramen, sushi and Chipotle stations HT doesn’t have… I do agree on the bar area could’ve been done better and they should add shade, that one goes to Harris Teeter.
