Central Market has celebrated the opening of its renovated food service area at its store at 4821 Broadway St. in San Antonio, Texas.
The remodeled section includes expanded production areas, as well as new departments, fixtures and equipment across deli, bakery, sushi and chef-prepared food cases.

“We are eager to start introducing pieces of what’s coming, and today, we opened what I believe to be the most exciting parts of the store,” said Katherine Miller, Broadway Central Market food service director. “This new space provides a renewed culinary experience for our customers and Partners and a place where we can connect and celebrate with our community.”
The food service area features an artisan bread wall, fresh made-in-house tortillas and pastry service in the bakery; sliced meats, an expanded cheese assortment and a self-serve Mediterranean and olive bar in the deli; sushi, rice and noodle bowls, a full-size salad bar, a newly developed burger and sandwich program, a hot soup bar and customer favorites from the chef-prepared foods case with seasonal offerings. Grab-and-go options include breakfast tacos, salads, sandwiches, snacks and drinks. The adjoining café, which opened earlier this spring, offers Central Market-roasted coffee, fresh-made smoothies and gelato made in-house. An expanded dining area with ample indoor seating and multiple self-checkout registers are also available.
The café and food service area was relocated from the center of the store to the northern end and is easily accessible through the Café entrance. Other completed areas include the pharmacy with drive-thru, curbside area, parking lot with additional spaces, new sidewalks and pedestrian paths, employee break rooms, administrative offices and loading dock. Part of the store’s façade has also been completed.
The renovation continues with the front end – including updated checkout lanes and the floral department – that is under construction and set to open this fall. After that, updated meat market and seafood areas will be next. The full renovation is set to be completed in 2027.
