In recognition of American Heart Month in February, Southeastern Grocers (SEG), parent company of Harveys Supermarket and Winn-Dixie grocery stores, donated $130,000 to the American Heart Association in support of its “Life is Why” campaign.
Throughout a three-week community donation program, SEG and its associates and customers contributed to funding for research, survivor support services and prevention programs aimed at reducing the risks of heart disease and stroke.

Their contributions to the Life is Why campaign will directly impact the lives of those in our local communities, offering hope, healing and the promise of a heart-healthy future for all.”
Caitlin Brunell, executive director for the First Coast American Heart Association, expressed the organization’s gratitude.
“Every dollar donated represents hope for someone’s parent, child, friend or neighbor – funding lifesaving research, providing critical prevention programs and supporting survivors on their journey to recovery,” she said.
The Life is Why campaign helps people take control of their heart health by recognizing their personal reasons for living longer, healthier lives.
As a partner of the American Heart Association, SEG has contributed more than $1.6 million to advance the nonprofit’s mission of fighting heart disease and stroke.
