Lakeland, Florida-based Publix Super Markets has continued its expansion in recent weeks by opening several new stores across the Southeast, including four in the Sunshine State and one each in Georgia and Virginia.
St. Cloud, Florida
Publix opened a new location Dec. 12 at 2895 N. Narcoossee Road, offering departments for grocery, dairy, frozen food, seafood, meat and fresh produce, as well as a full-service bakery, deli and pharmacy. The store also has an adjacent Publix Liquors site.
Hollywood Beach, Florida
On Dec. 12, Publix Super Markets opened a new store at Hollywood Beach.
The 29,912-square-foot store is located on the Intracoastal waterside and includes a dock where customers can park their boats while shopping. Shoppers also will find a seating area inside and benches on the main dock to enjoy meals from the grocer.
Virginia Beach, Virginia
Publix opened a new 49,235-square-foot site on Dec. 12 at 2200 General Booth Blvd. “We are excited to expand across the region with the opening of our first location in Virginia Beach,” said Jared Glover, Publix media relations manager.
The store features a deli with a variety of chef-inspired appetizers, entrees and side dishes prepared and prepackaged fresh in-store at its Chef’s Selections To Go counter. Specialties include Cedar Plank Salmon, Green Bean Almondine and a selection of pasta salads.
Greg Switzer, who will serve as store manager, has 26 years of service with Publix. He most recently served as the assistant store manager at the Publix at Arbor Springs Plaza in Newnan, Georgia.
Palm Bay, Florida
The 48,387-square-foot store at 9179 Babcock St. SE opened Dec. 5. A large, motorized Publix shopping cart traveled around the community that day, promoting the location’s opening.
In addition to the traditional Publix departments, the store has an upstairs seating area for customers to have ready-to-eat meals or sandwiches.
Atlanta, Georgia
The Publix at Buckhead Landing at 3330 Piedmont Road NE, Suite 16, opened Dec. 4.
“We’re excited for the opening of this Publix location in Buckhead,” said Nicole Krauss, media relations manager. “We look forward to providing premier service and quality products to new and existing customers.”

Wellington, Florida
On Nov. 21, Publix opened a new store 13880 Wellington Trace at the Courtyard Shops at Wellington. The 58,834-square-foot store boasts additional offerings such as a Pours area and burrito, pizza and pasta bars. There also is upstairs and outside seating, as well as an adjacent Publix Liquors.
