Executive Moves

Ladle, a provider of technology for independent grocers, has promoted Steve Miller to EVP of grocery pricing operations, expanding his leadership responsibility over the company’s grocery business and its Storewise by Ladle technology portfolio.

In the new role, Miller will lead the grocery organization’s sales, customer onboarding, support and software development, with responsibility for accelerating growth in Ladle’s grocery business. He reports directly to CEO Todd Gebski.

Miller brings decades of experience in technology and automation to the role. According to LinkedIn, he spent nearly 12 years at Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based wholesaler Associated Grocers, including as SVP and CIO, before founding MarginMax, a retail price management company serving grocery stores. He joined Storewise as general manager of grocery when it acquired MarginMax in 2023.

“The independent grocery segment is an important part of Ladle’s business, and Storewise is where we see significant opportunity to do more for our customers, wholesalers and industry partners,” Gebski said. “Steve brings a rare combination of grocery industry experience, technology expertise and a deep understanding of how retailers, wholesalers and vendors work together. Putting the full grocery organization under his leadership gives us greater focus and allows us to move faster on the solutions our customers need.”

Miller’s appointment will help shape the next phase of Ladle’s grocery pricing strategy, including continued investment in StoreKeeper, which connects retailers with wholesale and DSD vendors while automating pricing processes, and ReceiptKeeper, which extends that automation into receiving and vendor management. The company also is preparing to release ReceiptKeeper AI, designed to let retailers scan or photograph vendor invoices and automate much of the receiving process.

“Independent grocers operate in an incredibly demanding environment, and technology should make running their stores easier, not add more complexity,” Miller said. “We have an opportunity to automate more of the work that consumes retailers’ time, strengthen the connections between retailers, wholesalers and vendors, and give independent grocers technology built around the way they actually operate.”

Storewise by Ladle helps independent and regional grocers automate pricing and vendor processes, improve price integrity and gain visibility into information that affects store profitability. Boston, Massachusetts-based Ladle’s product suite also includes ComplianceMate and MeazureUp, serving restaurants, grocers, convenience stores and other operators.
