The United Family celebrated the grand reopening of its Hereford, Texas, store Sept. 16 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside community leaders, guests and team members as the location officially transitioned from the Amigos banner to United Supermarkets.
The conversion at 520 N. 25 Mile Ave. brings the Panhandle community an expanded assortment throughout the store along with new digital services, including Drive Up & Go, The United Family’s e-commerce platform allowing guests to order groceries for pickup or delivery through the United Supermarkets app, and Flash Orders, which provide rapid fulfillment for last-minute grocery needs.
Updated look, offerings
“While guests will notice a new name, an updated look and expanded offerings, what remains unchanged is our commitment to delivering exceptional service and supporting the Hereford community,” said Chris James, market VP of operations for The United Family. “We are proud to bring the United Supermarkets experience to Hereford and continue building on the relationships our team has established over the years.”
The celebration also carried a community investment: The company presented $2,500 donations to the Hereford Food Pantry in support of its food-insecurity efforts, to Hereford ISD and to the City of Hereford for a youth fishing event this weekend.
“The United Family was founded in communities just like Hereford more than 110 years ago,” said Tony Crumpton, market VP of merchandising and marketing. “This transition allows us to better serve our guests with new products, services and conveniences while continuing to invest in the community that has supported us for so many years.”
Guests will continue to find familiar products and departments, along with the store’s longtime team members, while gaining the broader United Supermarkets selection, the grocer said.
Lubbock-based United Supermarkets LLC, doing business as The United Family, operates 101 retail grocery stores in 56 Texas and New Mexico communities under the United Supermarkets, Market Street, Amigos and Albertsons Market banners, along with 42 convenience stores.
The self-distributing company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Albertsons Companies, operating within the grocer’s South Region following this summer’s consolidation of Albertsons’ divisions into four regions.
