Save A Lot and Leevers Supermarkets will open the second Save A Lot y Mas store in the St. Louis, Missouri, area, expanding their collaboration to serve Hispanic communities. Store opening is set for Aug. 5.
Located at 3427 S. Jefferson Ave. in the Gravois Park neighborhood of St. Louis, the store builds on the core Save A Lot concept with an expanded selection of fresh Hispanic produce, specialty meats and bakery items designed to deliver cultural relevance and everyday value, the grocers said.
The Gravois Park store will join an existing Save A Lot y Mas at 9430 Midland Blvd. in Overland, Missouri, and two locations in Colorado.
“Seeing the Save A Lot y Mas footprint expand into more St. Louis-area neighborhoods continues to demonstrate our commitment to delivering quality, culturally meaningful grocery experiences at affordable prices,” said Bill Mayo, Save A Lot CEO.
“We are continually working to meet the needs of today’s shopper, and this enhanced product offering and store format show that we are listening and meeting customer needs and preferences,” he added.
Building on Ahorra Mucho
The concept is the next iteration in the companies’ collaboration to better serve Hispanic shoppers and follows the introduction of the Ahorra Mucho store format in Aurora, Colorado. Save A Lot y Mas incorporates learnings from Ahorra Mucho within the value-driven Save A Lot platform.
Initial features include an enhanced produce assortment, a curated meat selection with popular cuts and ready-to-cook marinated options, and partnerships with local bakeries offering fresh-baked sweet breads and other authentic bakery items.
The format also introduces updated graphics and advertising designed to connect with Spanish-speaking shoppers, with Spanish featured prominently throughout the store, in-store signage and digital promotions.

“Save A Lot y Mas is part of our ongoing concept development efforts to better meet the needs of Hispanic shoppers,” said Jon Koontz, COO at Leevers Supermarkets. “We’re excited to bring these offerings to the vibrant Gravois Park neighborhood. Using what we’ve learned in Overland and our locations in Colorado, we hope to be able to bring insights about how best to serve this growing customer base to the broader Save A Lot network.”
The companies will celebrate the opening Aug. 5 in the parking lot beginning at 8 a.m., with the first 100 customers receiving a pre-packaged bag of groceries. Family activities include a bounce house and cotton candy. A ribbon-cutting ceremony with representatives from the St. Louis Area Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is set for 10 a.m. The store is open daily from 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
